QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN CONSIDERING EMPLOYER SPONSERED CHILD CARE

When considering investing in an on-site child care center for your employees, consider the following:

Premises 

  • Do you have space available for a child care facility and how big is it (for a small group of children or a bigger center)?
  • If you are planning to move to a new office, have you made appropriate arrangements with developers, architects or building administrators for a child care facility?
  • Have you considered joining efforts with other companies in the vicinity to develop and utilize the center?

 Employee demographics 

  • How many of your current employees would be interested in enrolling their kids in an on-site child care facility (nursery or preschool/kindergarten)?
  • Do you have a young employee population with foreseeable growth in child care needs?
  • What are the ages of your employees’ children?
  • What type of child care are employees currently using?
  • How many children and what ages would you like the center / facility to serve?

 Timeline 

  • When would you like to launch a child care facility?
  • How do you plan to manage the facility / center?
  • What is the budget for the child care facility / center, including construction, equipment, rent, maintenance, supplies, etc.?
